Judge Judy Sheindlin renews CBS contract

Judy Blum, aka Judge Judy Sheindlin, the Brooklyn-born tough cookie who has been presiding over hapless litigants for some time, has renewed her contract with CBS Television Distribution for popular courtroom show “Judge Judy.”

The multiyear deal will keep her on the air through 2012.

“‘Judge Judy’ is the unsung hero of syndication,” said John Nogawski, president-chief operating officer of CBS Television Distribution, citing the show’s consistent growth in recent years. “We couldn’t be happier to have Judy in our family for years to come.”

Judge Judy is also a robust author. Her first book, Don't Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It's Raining, was published in 1996 by Harper Collins. Her second book was titled, Beauty Fades, Dumb is Forever, and was published in January 1999. In 2000, she published Keep It Simple, Stupid and an illustrated children's book, Win or Lose by How You Choose.
