Charlie Sheen's two daughters will be paraded on tv despite his objections to their mother Denise Richards gusto for the easy money, and lack of concern for their invasion of privacy.

TMZ reports that despite Charlie’s objections, a court commissioner granted Denise permission for the divorced couple’s two daughters to co-star in her upcoming reality show.

Charlie is reportedly beside himself that Sam, 3, and Lola, 2, will be exposed to public scrutiny.

Judy Blum, aka Judge Judy Sheindlin, the Brooklyn-born tough cookie who has been presiding over hapless litigants for some time, has renewed her contract with CBS Television Distribution for popular courtroom show “Judge Judy.”

The multiyear deal will keep her on the air through 2012.

“‘Judge Judy’ is the unsung hero of syndication,” said John Nogawski, president-chief operating officer of CBS Television Distribution, citing the show’s consistent growth in recent years. “We couldn’t be happier to have Judy in our family for years to come.”

Judge Judy is also a robust author. Her first book, Don't Pee on My Leg and Tell Me It's Raining, was published in 1996 by Harper Collins. Her second book was titled, Beauty Fades, Dumb is Forever, and was published in January 1999. In 2000, she published Keep It Simple, Stupid and an illustrated children's book, Win or Lose by How You Choose.

Del Toro doubles up to direct big-screen "Hobbit"

Guillermo del Toro is in talks to direct back-to-back installments of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit," which is being co-financed by New Line and MGM.

Del Toro's name was on a short list of directors who could tackle the project, one of the most anticipated literary adaptations of the past decade. An ill-chosen director for "Hobbit" could put billions of dollars at stake for New Line and MGM and could turn off an audience that encompasses millions of passionate readers, Tolkien fans and obsessive geeks.

Few filmmakers have the cachet that del Toro has, as well as a deep love for the source material, an assured grasp of fantasy filmmaking and an understanding and command of geek culture as well as its respect. Del Toro has built that goodwill through such films as the Oscar-nominated "Pan's Labyrinth," "Hellboy," "Blade 2" (which was made by New Line) and "The Devil's Backbone."

For New Line, making "Hobbit" had become a priority in the wake of its billion-dollar success with the Oscar-winning "Lord of the Rings" movies, which were co-written and directed by Peter Jackson. Jackson wanted to adapt "Hobbit," but when he got into a dispute with the studio over profit participation, the project went into limbo; neither New Line nor MGM, both rights-holders to the film, wanted to risk alienating fans of the trilogy by making an adaptation that didn't have Jackson's involvement.

The December resolution of the Jackson suit, facilitated by MGM CEO Harry Sloan, paved the way for "Hobbit" to get back on the road to the screen. However, because of other commitments that included "The Lovely Bones" and "Tintin," Jackson could not take on writing and directing roles, opting instead to become an executive producer with approval over creative elements of the pair of films.

Because of the Writers Guild of America strike, no writer has been hired to adapt Tolkien's children's classic, though that process will be fast-tracked once the strike is resolved. Del Toro and Jackson will oversee "Hobbit's" writing.

Principal photography for the films, which will be shot simultaneously, is tentatively set for 2009. The production budget is estimated at $150 million per film. The release of the first film is slated for 2010 and the second for 2011.

"Hobbit," which Tolkien initially wrote for his children, was published in the U.K. in 1937 to wide acclaim. It centered on Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who joins a group of dwarves and the wizard Gandalf on a quest to find the treasure of a dragon named Smaug. Tolkien went on to write "The Lord of the Rings" 17 years later.

Showtime is giving an upcoming episode of "The L Word" an online sneak peek after ratings for its fifth-season premiere popped after a similar stunt.

OurChart.com, a social network partly owned by Showtime that caters to the lesbian audience depicted in "Word," will once again host an advance screening, scheduled for February 18. In December, "Word" saw its premiere episode deliver a 36 percent bigger audience than the previous season premiere after that episode debuted on OurChart.com.

"No Country for Old Men" tops Screen Actors awards

Spanish actor Javier Bardem and mob drama "The Sopranos" took early movie and television awards at the Screen Actors Guild ceremony on Sunday, Hollywood's first full-scale awards show in a season marred by a bitter industry strike.

Bardem won for his supporting actor role as a cold-blooded killer in "No Country For Old Men" at a star-studded dinner at the Shrine auditorium in Los Angeles preceded by a red-carpet parade that even wintry rain failed to dampen.

"The Sopranos" which ended after six seasons in June 2007, took the top TV drama prize for best ensemble cast. Stars James Gandolfini and Edie Falco won awards for best actor and actress in a TV drama.

Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Eva Longoria and Tom Cruise provided some much-missed star power at the SAG event. During the three months of the ongoing strike by Hollywood screenwriters, celebrities have boycotted the Golden Globes and People's Choice Awards to honor the Writers Guild of America's picket line.

"The entire town has been going through a very difficult time. So to be able to celebrate something is a wonderful thing," former "Will & Grace" star Debra Messing told Reuters.

The WGA allowed its members to write for the SAG awards show and said it would not protest outside the event because actors have been strong allies of the writers in their bid for higher payments for work distributed over the Internet.

The strike threatens the February 24 Oscars, the movie industry's biggest showcase, although hopes have risen for a settlement after informal talks resumed last week between the WGA and major studios.

In a last tribute to one of the most successful shows in American television history, the Screen Actors Guild gave top acting honors to "The Sopranos" after the mob drama's sixth and final season.

"The Sopranos" swept all three awards in the SAG's television drama category, while "30 Rock" and "The Office" split the three television comedy awards.

James Gandolfini, who plays the strapping and troubled New Jersey Mafia boss Tony Soprano, won best actor, while Edie Falco his long-suffering wife, Carmela, won best actress.

"It's been 10 years. It's an honor. That's all I can say," said Gandolfini.

The entire cast of the HBO show, including Tony's therapist played by Lorraine Bracco, won best drama ensemble cast.

"We worked very hard on this show. What a wonderful way to go," said Tony Sirico who played Tony Soprano's lieutenant Paulie.

Other actors said it was hard to move on after such a successful run for the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning show.

"I have fallen in love with these people and I don't know how you walk away from that," said Falco.

The Directors Guild of America on Saturday chose Ethan and Joel Coen as best feature film directors for 2007 for their gritty crime drama "No Country for Old Men," an award known for signaling which filmmakers will win top Oscars.

Under the specter of a screenwriters strike that has brought Hollywood to a standstill for nearly three months, the Coen brothers beat four other candidates, including Paul Thomas Anderson for "There Will Be Blood" about the rise to wealth of a California oil prospector, and Sean Penn with his wilderness adventure "Into the Wild."

The field was rounded out by Tony Gilroy for his directorial debut with legal thriller "Michael Clayton" and painter-turned-director Julian Schnabel for "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly," who won the Golden Globe for best director a few weeks ago.

"It's nice to get the acknowledgment of critics and even audiences, but there is something about being acknowledged by people who do the same thing you do," said Joel Coen, who has made signature films like "Fargo" and "Blood Simple" with his brother over the last two decades.

"No Country for Old Men" has been nominated for eight Oscars including best picture, best director and best supporting actor for Javier Bardem's role as a sinister killer.

The DGA represents the directors of movies and television programs and since it began giving awards for film director in 1949, only six winners have failed to claim the Oscar in the same year. The Academy also has a history of giving their top honor, best picture, to the winner of the best director Oscar.

Last year, this link proved true when Martin Scorsese won the DGA and Oscar best director awards for "The Departed," which also took the Oscar for best film.

But the 2007 movie year has given way to one of the most unpredictable Hollywood awards seasons in recent years as "Atonement" and "Sweeney Todd" took top Globe honors, but fell behind "No Country for Old Men" and "There Will Be Blood," in Oscar nominations.

Actress Mary-Kate Olsen says the sudden death of Hollywood actor Heath Ledger was a "tragic loss" for all involved.

Through a statement released Friday by her representative, the 21-year-old actress told People magazine her best wishes were with the family of the "Brokeback Mountain" star following his death this week.

"Heath was a friend. His death is a tragic loss. My thoughts are with his family during this very difficult time," Olsen said.

The former "Full House" actress and Ledger had previously been romantically linked by one entertainment source. The actress was one of the first people to learn of his untimely death Tuesday.

Ledger's body was found in his New York apartment by a masseuse and Olsen was contacted within two hours, the Detroit Free Press said Friday.

While the official cause of Ledger's death had yet to be determined, the Free Press reported police suspect it may have been from an accidental overdose of prescription medication.

A pair of California doctors say replicating U.S. actress Jessica Biel's curves are among the top plastic surgery requests they receive.

Surgeons Richard Fleming and Toby Mayer of The Beverly Hills Institute of Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery say Biel's body, along with actress Angelina Jolie's lips and film star Katie Holmes' eyes, were cosmetic surgery patients' top requests, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

The doctors say many patients tab specific body parts from noted celebrities in an attempt to put together the ideal face and body combination.

"Our patients continue to turn to Hollywood to raise their standard of beauty," Fleming said. "Our patients want to look rested, energetic and, most of all, youthful like the celebrities they see in glossy magazines."

Other top celebrity features included heiress Paris Hilton's complexion, "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl's nose and actress Keira Knightley's cheeks.

The British newspaper said top male celebrity features included actor George Clooney's cheeks, soccer star David Beckham's body and the eyes of the newest James Bond actor, Daniel Craig.

Marion Cotillard, who was nominated for an Oscar for her star turn as Edith Piaf in "La Vie en Rose," is in negotiations to join Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in the Depression-era crime drama "Public Enemies."

An adaptation of Brian Burrough's book "Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-43," the story follows the government's attempt to stop the criminals John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd. Depp is playing Dillinger to Bale's famed FBI agent Melvin Purvis.

Cotillard will play Billie, Dillinger's torch singer girlfriend.

Michael Mann ("The Insider," "Collateral," "Miami Vice") is directing for Universal. Mann wrote the script with Ronan Bennett and Ann Biderman.

"Enemies" is not Cotillard's first English-language feature. "A Good Year" and "Big Fish" are among the English-language productions the French actress has appeared in.

Christian Brando, the eldest son of Hollywood icon Marlon Brando who made worldwide news in 1990 by shooting dead his sister's boyfriend, died on Saturday at the age of 49, his lawyer said.

Brando, son of the Oscar-winning screen star and Welsh actress Anna Kashfi, died early on Saturday of complications from pneumonia, attorney Bruce Margolin said.

He had been hospitalized at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center since January 11 with pneumonia and his ex-wife, Deborah, told People magazine in a story for their Web site that he had been comatose and on a respirator.

"His body was totally compromised," she said. "He'd lived so hard ... this is just so sad."

Representatives for Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center declined to comment.

Brando fatally shot Dag Drollet on May 16, 1990, after his sister Cheyenne told him that her 26-year-old boyfriend had been beating her.

His arrest and subsequent legal proceedings made international headlines, fueled by Marlon Brando's tearful plea for leniency on his eldest son's behalf in a Southern California courtroom.

Christian Brando pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, serving almost five years behind bars before he was released.

Britney Spears failed on Wednesday in her latest bid to regain the right to see her two young sons after again ducking a court hearing on the issue, Los Angeles court officials said.

Spears, 26, who has either not turned up at numerous hearings or has turned back because of a media crush, was filmed by news media arriving at the Los Angeles court building on time.

But she did not make it to the courtroom where her lawyers and her ex-husband, dancer Kevin Federline, went ahead with proceedings without her, court spokesman Alan Parachini told reporters.

Spears' lawyer Anne Kiley told family court Commissioner Scott Gordon she did not believe Spears would attend. Kiley gave no explanation and court officials said Spears left the building after about 30 minutes after apparently changing her mind about attending.

After a brief, closed-door hearing Gordon made no change in arrangements which gave Federline sole custody of the couple's young sons and denied Spears the right to see them, Parachini said. Federline and his lawyers left without commenting.

The troubled pop star, whose personal life has veered out of control in the last 12 months, lost custody of sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, in October but had been allowed to see them three times a week in court-monitored visits.

Those visitation rights were stripped on January 4 after Spears refused to hand back the boys to Federline and reportedly locked herself in a bathroom in a fit of hysterics. That episode ended with her being taken away on a stretcher and hospitalized for two days.

Spears failed in a bid last week to regain her visitation rights after the erratic singer made it to the court house but climbed quickly back into her car and drove off after being mobbed by photographers at the entrance to the building.
